...and, for the feather buffs, a close-up of the important bits. Bar a few next generation upper scapulars (and maybe some lesser coverts?), it looks like the plumage is still more or less completely juvenile. As noted elsewhere, the inner greater coverts and tertials possess much more in the way of internal markings than would seem to be usual:

Finally, we did manage to get a really ropey recording of the bird calling in flight (on 18th January). Traffic noise/honking Canada Geese etc nearly drown it out but you can just about hear the short, sharp 'peep' at 0.5 secs and 2.5 secs; click here to have a listen.
